OneDrive
BYOVault backs up each user's personal OneDrive at the file level, capturing a new version on every backup run in which a file has changed.
What's captured
- Every file in a user’s personal drive, backed up individually.
- A new version captured on each backup run in which the file has changed, going back to when backup began for that file — not OneDrive’s own native version history. See Version History for how versioning works across all workloads.
What's not captured
Teams cache library excluded
OneDrive’s auto-created cache library used for Microsoft Teams/Office caching is explicitly excluded from backup — it’s transient application data, not user content. Microsoft Teams itself is not a backed-up workload; there is no Teams chat, channel, or file backup in BYOVault today.
As with SharePoint, sharing permissions on OneDrive files and folders are not captured — only file content and its location.
Restoring OneDrive data
OneDrive files restore in place to their original path, or download directly. See In-Place Restore and Restore Limitations — restore is always per-file, there is no “restore this entire drive” action.
